BACKGROUND (childhood, 00 - 12)
Valerie started out in life as a baby raven, but it didn't last. Fed some human heartstrings, she turned human in turn and was soon scooped off the streets of Helved, Denmark, by her to-be adoptive family. As zoologists for an animal magazine, they frequently moved around for their work, and she spent the better part of her childhood loved and traveling the world.

BACKGROUND (teenhood, 13 - 19)
Valerie and her family settled in Los Lunares and she entered a public high school, and from this development came a rebellious streak that eventually led to getting caught by a street gang. One thing led to the next, and after the first taste of blood other than her own, it awoke a primal power that she had long since forgotten. The valravn emerged for the first time.

BACKGROUND (adulthood, 20 - 27)
Valerie enrolled in college, and shortly after graduating, she put her communications degree to use as a journalist in her family's field. It wasn't until a sudden uptick in neighborhood violence that she was reminded every ecosystem needed an apex predator, and after rescuing her former university roommate and friend, she decided that it would be her role to fill.

BACKGROUND (the present, 199X)
Valerie continued her career in vigilantism, earning quite the notorious public identity while living off the thrill of the hunt. Between chasing down digital leads through social media and taking her fight to the streets, she heralded the night in a flash of feathers and fangs, setting out not only to protect others, but to have a time on the wild side, loving every moment.
